    Paper Space

    June 27 − July 11, 2025

    10:00 − 18:00

  • We are pleased to announce the solo exhibition Paper Space by graphic designer Atsuki Kikuchi, opening soon at Shibunkaku Kyoto.

In addition to presenting his latest works, Kikuchi has thoughtfully curated a selection of early modern to modern artworks from our collection to be featured in the exhibition.

We invite you to experience the timeless beauty that resonates across different eras and style.

    Concurrent curation by Atsuki Kikuchi:

Ryōkan, Sakai Hōitsu, Kumagai Morikazu, Fukuda Heihachirō, and others

  • Rather than focusing on what to depict, I am more interested in where to place the imagery on the plane. Mere stability is dull, yet without a fixed position, nothing can be established. If I can construct space on the plane, the imagery will inevitably gain movement through virtual gravity and time. Next, I struggle with how to stop it. This process is often repeated. If successful, I can create a state where force is at work, yet being static.
