殉教者 1985年
近代になると日本では活字印刷のために一字一桝の原稿用紙に文字が書かれるようになった。その近代の一般的な書記の景色を招き入れることによって、自作の句を「書道作品」のスタイルに回収されることから解放し、書の閾値を広げることにした。

In modern Japan, in order to print using movable type, characters came to be written on manuscript paper allotting one square per character. By inviting this common modern writing style into my calligraphy, I was able to free my phrases from being reduced to the style of a “work of calligraphy,” broadening the boundaries of calligraphy.
